Abie Nestor Martinez

Abie Nestor Martinez, age 85, died on July 9, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah 84116. He was born on December 31st, 1937 in Del Norte, Colorado to Maria Erminda Noriega aka (Mildred) & Jose Martinez. He married Darla Joy Anderson on April 28th, 1962.
Abie worked for O.J. Industries for many years where he received many awards for great service. He also worked for Sorenson Center where he retired from. He loved going to St. Patrick’s church until he wasn’t able to & he enjoyed bowling, golf, playing pool & darts. He also loved his Wendover trips where he won plenty of times including winning a Mercedes Benz.
When he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, the first thing he said was as long as Wendover is a straight shot he will never forget how to get there. LOL.
He is survived by his sons, Gordon & Abie Eugene; daughters Angela & Veronica; grandkids- Paul, Mysti, Sean, Michelle, Anna, Heather, Kiante’, Treasure, Jarius & Tatyana, Destiny, Harper, and Zyler. Along with great-grandkids; Paul Jr., Noah, Layla, Amani, Monet, Keyshawn, Selena, Tyson Jr, Alia- Isabella, Ariel, Jasmine, Nico, Sandy, Nevaeh, Jordan, Richard Jr., Taliyah, Lorenzo & Zeidone, Fynlee, and Aspen. Also his love for Kloe the dog and also the cats who he’s grown to love over the last few weeks.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Erminda Mildred, wife Darla, daughter Sandy, brother Rudy, and sister Ida. Funeral Services will be held on July 26, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Church located at 1058 West 400 South Salt Lake City, Utah 84116. A gathering will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a rosary. Mass will begin at 11 AM. Interment will then take place immediately after services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery. 6500 South Redwood Road West Jordan, Utah 84123.
