Albert Larry Gallagher

March 2, 1937 — November 23, 2023

Albert Larry Gallagher, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the age of 86.  Born March 2, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was an identical twin, being the first born of five children to Effie Lavon (Bonnie) Kropf & Farley Oswald Gallagher. He graduated from Murray High School in 1955 and received his Four-Year Apprenticeship as a Journeyman Machinist. Served in the Utah National Guard.

He married the love of his life, Mary Johanson on March 11, 1957, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 11, 1958.  He was proud to be married 66 plus years.

Larry loved the Great Outdoors, “Let’s just say his life was Full of Adventures.”
He loved boating, water skiing, camping, four wheeling, river rafting, fishing, and hunting. All his adventures were a family event.  Crossing off his bucket list was jumping off the Sevier River Bridge outside of Marysville, Utah at the age of 80.  He was a true craftsman in building his own camper, wake board, and pinewood derby cars with his sons to name a few.

Larry was brilliant in his trade as a Machinist. Working for Eimco Machine Shop and Kennecott Copper Mine.  One of his greatest accomplishments for modern medicine was his work on the Jarvik 7 Artificial Heart, which is in the Smithsonian Museum.  He worked part time for Primary Children’s Medical Center developing many medical devices.

In 2002 he had the opportunity to volunteer for the Utah Winter Olympics.  It was a highlight in his life, and he hoped the Olympics would return, so he could volunteer again.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as ward clerk, counselor in Bishopric, mission leader and two of his most rewarding callings he served was being Young Men’s President and being a Primary Teacher.  The little children touched his heart, and in turn he touched theirs.

He is survived by his wife Mary, 4 Children- Terri Weaver (Kevin), Starlyn Gallagher, Bart Gallagher, Chad Gallagher (Lori). 10 Grandchildren- Nick Weaver, Natalie McQuiston, Skyler Sargent, Malarie Weaver, Ciara Stickle, Alex Gallagher, Chase Gallagher, Amber Chipman, Kristin Anderson, Lynnsie Gaskins, 8 Great Grandchildren. His twin brother Garry Gallagher (Marsha) and sister Connie Larsen.

We express appreciation to all those who have shared sympathy, compassion, and medical service on our father’s behalf. To the fireman and paramedics who returned a second time to take Dad to the hospital.  To the one individual paramedic who put his arm around mom and asked, “Would you like to see your husband”? as he put her arm through his and walked her back to the ER. Appreciation to his medical doctors and nurses who came to their home, who showed such love and compassion in helping him get better so many times. We thank you!
