Alex William Eastburn

August 11, 1975 — July 5, 2023

Alex William Eastburn passed away unexpectedly on July 5th, 2023.
Alex was born on August 11, 1975, to William and Nancy Eastburn (née Dunyon) in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in Tooele, Utah, with his big sister, Jennifer, where he developed his lifelong love of the outdoors. He and Jennifer, along with their friends and cousins, would explore what they called “Squirrelsville”, the undeveloped foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains behind their home, in all seasons and weather conditions.
After graduating from Tooele High School in 1993, Alex enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served for eight years in the Marine Reserves and achieved the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge.
In 1998 on New Year’s Eve, Alex met Holly Turner, the love of his life. Holly fell in love with Alex’s quick wit, his profound intelligence, and his dry sense of humor. His smile, laugh, and beautiful green eyes sealed the deal, and they married in 2002. Holly and Alex have two children, Sam and Ava. Alex was a very proud dad and loved sharing his passions with his children. He would spend hours discussing some of their favorite topics’ photography and all things food.
Alex was a gifted craftsman; he owned and operated Timberline Hardwoods for several years, creating beautiful hardwood floors in hundreds of homes and businesses throughout Utah. He was an expert fly fisherman who could tie a fly matching those hatching on the water and then hook a big fish like nobody’s business. Alex loved exploring the outdoors where he would climb, kayak, disc golf, fly fish, camp, and take fantastic photos. He loved hiking and mountain biking and would always be the first to the top. His endurance was unmatched. Last year, he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with his Aunt Jill.
In 2011, Alex joined Wollam Construction, where he became an integral member of the management team. He acquired (and retained) several titles throughout his years at Wollam: Company Photographer, Field Safety Professional, Drone Pilot, and Safety Manager. He took pride in his work and cherished the friendships he made.
Alex had many friends who he considered part of his family. He truly loved spending time with them on their many outdoor adventures.
