Alexander Mercer Henricks, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 6, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born to Alexander M. Henricks, Sr. and Anna K. (Ganster) Henricks on September 7, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Alex grew up in the north side of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in June 1937 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. He married Olga Uriniak on October 15, 1941. He served his country in the Army from 1941 through 1945 during World War II. After being honorably discharged he continued his career, and started raising his family in Boston and Pittsburgh. His career took him many places throughout the world. He moved his family to Salt Lake City in the early 60's. He retired from Calgon Corporation in the early 70's.
Alex enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and dedicated his best efforts to help them with their lives. He enjoyed taking his family on many vacations. He was an avid reader, loved playing bridge and following his favorite Pittsburgh teams. He also loved spending time with his animal friends. Alex was a member of the Wasatch Presbyterian Church.
Alexander is survived by his sons, Alexander (Sylvia) Henricks, III, Ralph (Claudia) Henricks, and Robert Henricks; three grandchildren, Edward (Robyn) Henricks, Alexander Henricks, IV, and Anne (Cameron) Crawford; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Olga.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00am at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family can visit one hour prior to the funeral. Entombment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Messages to the family can be posted at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
