Allan Hugh Cartwright

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend, Allan. He lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. His contagious smile, positive outlook, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Allan was born and raised in Beaver, Utah, where he grew up with his sister, Gay, and his parents, Dona Howd Cartwright & Aubra (Tobe) Cartwright, who later married the great Terrance (TC) Hansen. He was deeply proud of his Beaver roots and cherished the lifelong friendships with David & Janet, Bill & Connie, Doug & JoAnna and many friends he made there. No matter where life took him, Beaver was always home in his heart.

He moved to Salt Lake, attending Granite High School graduating in 1969. He proudly graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Finance. He married Camille 52 years ago, September 15, 1973.

Allan is survived by his wife Camille Daniels Cartwright. Daughter, Amy (Jeff) Higgins & Grandson Brayden. Son, Jeff (Tanya) Cartwright & Grandchildren, Avery, Addi & Ashton. Mother in Law, Georgia Daniels, Sister in Law, Debbie Daniels.

Preceded in death by Gay & Shirl Elliker, Jim Elliker and parents.

Allan built a successful career with Owens & Minor, where he earned the respect of colleagues and customers through his dedication and exceptional work ethic. He was recognized as Salesman of the Year more than half a dozen times, reflecting not only his talent but also his genuine ability to build relationships. He often worked long weekends to ensure hospitals had the supplies they needed, knowing that his efforts helped make lifesaving surgeries possible.

Outside of work, Allan’s greatest accomplishments and time were spent with his family and the game of golf. A lifelong golfer, he was proud to be named the 2025 Senior Club Champion at Mountain Dell Golf Course. He faithfully played in the men’s league at Bonneville and Mountain Dell. For over 30 years he looked forward each week to his Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. tee time with his dear friends Manny, Don, Uncle Dee, Gary-and anyone fortunate enough to join their group.

For the past 13 years, Allan served as a golf marshal at Mountain Dell, where golfers came to know and appreciate his friendly smile, welcoming personality, and willingness to help. He often joked that he shared his office with the moose, pot guts and countless lost golf balls. His colleagues there called him the kindest human on the planet.

Allan loved sharing life’s adventures with his children. Saturday morning ski days became treasured traditions filled with early mornings, lunches in the back of the Blazer, and countless chairlift conversations about becoming better skiers—and better people. Those days together created memories that will be cherished forever.

His beloved 1967 Mustang was another source of pride and joy. Over the years, it became part of the family’s story, enjoyed by Amy and Jeff, lovingly restored with the help of his best friend David and son Jason and eventually passed on to the Hudson family in Reno to continue its journey.

Of all the roles Allan held in his lifetime, none brought him greater happiness than being Grandpa. His four grandchildren—Avery, Addi, Ashton, and Brayden—were the center of his world. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at soccer, baseball, basketball, taekwondo, cross-country, and every other milestone in their lives. Whether riding bikes, scooters, or four-wheelers, Allan never hesitated to join the fun. He treasured every moment spent with them and was endlessly proud of each one.

His love extended beyond people to the animals he adored. Roxie was always close by, and Allan lovingly cared for the family’s grandpets whenever needed (not to forget Yeager, Tank, Dakota & Ruger). He also had a remarkable friendship with a deer named Zoe, who would come each day for an apple before quietly keeping him company while he worked in the yard. Those who witnessed their bond often said Allan had a special gift with animals.

Allan will be remembered for his dependability, compassion, and quiet example. He taught those around him how to be not just good but a great person, a devoted father, an exceptional grandfather, and a loyal friend. He believed in showing up, working hard, loving without judgment, never giving up, and always believing that you could do hard things if you were willing to put in the work.

His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply, the incredible love for nieces & nephews, Di Ann & John, Janet & Craig, Jim, Linda & Laura & Chris & all his family. The friendships he treasured, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and generosity. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

The family encourages you to honor Allan by spending time with those you love, lending a helping hand to someone in need, or enjoying an early morning round of golf with good friends—just as he would have done.
