Allan Jed Arveseth

August 10, 1972 — March 20, 2009

Allan Jed Arveseth died at his Salt Lake City residence Friday morning, March 20, 2009. He was born August 10, 1972 to Mary Lou and Allan Arveseth of Salt Lake City.

A graduate of Westminster College (BS,1995; MPC,1997) Following an unprecedented write-in election in 1994, Jed served as president of the Westminster student body two years in succession over turning 120 years of tradition.

Jed received the JC Penney "Golden Rule Award" for his Eagle Scout project in 1989 when he restored a Goshute burial site for reconsecration by the descendants of those resting there.

He worked many years in the food service/hospitality industry in Salt Lake and in Park City. More recently he artistically directed project renovation management along the Wasatch Front. Jed loved to travel; he enjoyed frequent trips throughout Europe and North America.

He had a steadfast support for and loyalty and devotion to friends and family. He had a special fondness for the deaf community and signed fluidly as he spoke. Even if he was juggling six conversations at the same time he made you feel special. Jed was a rapid-fire thinker and could quote entire movie scripts.

Jed became a master cook and craftsman. He worked hard at every task and brought enthusiasm and light, humor and wry judgment, understanding and strong-minded honesty to every relationship.

Jed is survived by his parents, his brothers Erik (Eric Long) and Michael (Leisha) Arveseth, his sister Emily (Bart) Hoerner and his nieces Brynja Marie and Aislinn Adele Arveseth, plus his Aunt Susy and all those uncles. Jed will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
