Allen LeRoy Johnson was born January 31, 1945, to Amy Bernice (Brown) and Jesse Royal Johnson as the second child, and oldest son, of four children. After over two years battling with cancer, he returned home to his Savior Jesus Christ, and his sweetheart, Rosie, when he passed away peacefully in his own bed, in his own home, surrounded by family and friends on September 3, 2024, which was their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Allen was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Linda, his wife Rosanne Foote Johnson, and many other extended family and friends.
Allen was a man dedicated to God, his family, and his country. He served honorably in many church callings, including a special home mission, and served many years in the temple as an ordinance worker, which, especially after Rosanne died, gave him a lot of peace, comfort, and purpose.
Allen met his Rosie at a movie theater where he was an usher, and she was a concession stand girl. Rosie was on a ladder, and it started to tip over, so he caught her and couldn’t help but kiss her. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on September 3, 1971.
Allen and Rosie were blessed with four children, Jeffrey (Jeff) Allen, Jennifer (Jenni) Amanda (Cox, married to Morris Cox), Matthew (Matt) Phillip, and Melissa (Lissa) Rose (FKA Faulkner [Jeremy], Penrod [Russell]). Their grandchildren were Dakota Dee and Austin Lynn Faulkner (Melissa and Jeremy), Caleb Timothy Johnson (Jeff), when Melissa re-married to Russell (Russ) in 2018, they were blessed with step-grandchildren Kelie Dawn Adams-Penrod, Charles (Charlie) James Adams-Penrod, Anthony James Penrod, Edward James Penrod. They were also blessed with great-grandchildren through their step-granddaughter Kelie, Kimberly Dakota (Kimmie) and Lucas Allen (spelled correctly, which Allen was very proud of). Sadly, Allen was never able to meet his step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren in person but loved them regardless.
As a husband and father, Allen strived to be a good provider by working over 38 years as a US Postal Worker, and especially a loving husband and dad who always made sure to tell, as well as show, his family how much he loved them. Allen spent most of his life struggling with mental illness, including PTSD due to his troubled childhood and his experiences as a Marine during his two tours in the Vietnam War. Allen served honorably in the US Marines from 1966-1970. He later reenlisted in the Utah Army National Guard and served honorably as an electrician in the 115th Engineer Detachment, stationed out of Camp Williams in Draper, Utah where he retired as a Seargent in February 2002. Allen also spent over 40 years serving in various capacities mentoring youth in the Boy Scouts of America. Allen was also known for his ability to speak like the Disney characters Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, as well as his flare for telling stories, which people enjoyed. These talents gave him the ability to make friends with ease. Allen was proud to call so many his friends and strived to be a friend to all he encountered. Allen will be sorely missed and fondly remembered!
