Together Forever

Jack Gorden Baird, age 86, passed away on February 12, 2020, in Los Angeles CA with Allen at his side. Jack was born on November 28, 1933, in California to Floyd Edward Baird & Lyndene Marian Griffin. Jack grew up during the Great Depression and had fond memories of walking through his neighborhood with a little red wagon collecting scrap metal for the war effort during World War II.  He later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He spent many years working in the music industry.  Jack was at 20th Century Fox Records when they released one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time in 1977, Star Wars. He was awarded a Gold Record for his contributions to the hit Stephanie Mills album “Stephanie” released 1981.  He later moved to Arista Records and worked for legendary record executive Clive Davis. After leaving the music industry, Jack worked for the Wealth Management and Investment Firm Whittier Trust there he retired.

Allen Douglas Nelson, age 78, passed away on April 9, 2023, in Los Angeles, CA. after a short battle with cancer with his close friend, Brian Tessier, by his side. Allen was born on April 19, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Douglas Allen Nelson & Barbara Rose Roth. Allen attended the University of Utah from 1962 to 1967. He majored in Theatre, was on the National Honor Society and received a Sterling Scholar Award in Drama.  He spent his life working in Theatre, Film & Television, he went on to own his own acting school, Allen Nelson Studio, and later retired from teaching. Allen had a very special bond with his brother, Vaughn. Their weekly Sunday phone call was something they both looked forward to.

Jack & Allen met in the ‘70s, brought together by their common interests in Music & Acting. They enjoyed water skiing, swimming, oil painting & bike riding. Allen favored gardening while Jack enjoyed cooking. They treasured their yearly trips to Rosarito, Mexico and spending Christmas in Utah with Vaughn, ReNae and family. Jack & Allen didn’t have children, but they had a lot of love to give, so they were very involved in rescuing Grey Hounds. Often having two Grey Hounds in their home at a time, which kept them busy outdoors with walks in the park & giving them all their love, they especially loved NEL, the last rescue dog they had before they passed away. Jack & Allen were married on October 13, 2013, at the Japanese Garden in Lake Balboa, CA. among friends and family.

Jack & Allen were cremated and later laid to rest together at Memorial Redwood Cemetery in West Jordan Utah. They will be deeply missed by all who had the honor to know them and will forever remain in our hearts.
