Anita Carter Carpenter passed away peacefully in Cedar City Utah Wednesday August 14, 2024, in the presence of her son Jerry and daughter Carolyn.
Anita was born on October 24, 1931, in Provo Utah to Raymond Crawley Carter and Fannie Louise Irons. She is survived by her son Jerry (June) Carpenter, daughter Carolyn Moser, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Louise, husband Darrell Carpenter, daughter Kristy Lyn Walker two sisters Lu Rae (Paul) Johnson and Elaine (Leonard) Haake.
Anita loved reading whether it be the newspaper, reader's digest, church books or novels. Often you could find her working in the yard, especially with her rose bushes. She crocheted several blankets for herself and family. She discovered joy in working with plastic canvas, creating a variety of items from Kleenex box covers to Christmas ornaments. She also enjoyed embroidering t-towels and pillowcases.
As a young girl Anita developed a strong work ethic which she developed throughout her life. Her career was mainly served at various companies as a bookkeeper. Uniquely she didn't need a calculator, she could add a ·column of numbers mentally in her head.
Even though Anita and Darrell both attended South High School, they met several years later through mutual friends. They courted for about 11 months. One reason Darrell proposed to Anita was because together, they enjoyed many of the same interests: skiing, skating and dancing. They were married on December 9, 1953, and brought three children into this world to form their family. Kristy, Jerry and Carolyn. From their three children they were blessed with six grandchildren, Christopher, Aneaya, Misty, Trevor, Emily and Adam. As a couple Anita and Darrel taught dance lessons; they were on a bowling league, visited several temples during their travels, a trip to Hawaii, several cruises, travel tours, and a trip to Japan to pick up Jerry from his mission. They also valued the time they shared going for long drives to enjoy the scenery, during the spring and fall.
Anita held a strong love of her savior and served in the primary, relief society, cub scouts and loved working in the Jordan River Temple as an ordinance worker.
Some of the many family activities were camping or boating with friends and extended family, the Oakley rodeo every July, picnics in the back yard or up a local canyon and anything else family related.
