The generous heart of Anne M. McClinton Rushton stopped beating on August 10, 2026.
Born October 28, 1937, in Orrville, Alabama, to Lula Frank Sealy and Benjamin Clark McClinton, Anne moved with her grandparents and siblings to Salt Lake City in 1946, after the death of her parents. She graduated from West High School. She worked many years for the Utah Tax Commission.
September 15, 1990, Anne married Ken Rushton, who introduced her to outdoor activities, even hunting moose. They enjoyed 33 years together, until Ken’s death on March 21, 2024.
Anne was a wizard with the sewing machine and the oven. She loved sharing her crafts and her cakes with friends and family.
Among those who will miss Anne are her children Scott Robertson, Jody Carlson (Thomas, Herriman, UT), Jayne Hawthorne (Tim, Uxbridge, MA), and Julia Franco (Boonton , NJ), nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and her brother Ben McClinton (Karen Rosenbaum, Kensington, CA). Predeceasing Anne were her parents, her husband, her sister Mary McClinton Potter, and her daughter Anna Lynnette Shafsky.
The family is grateful to the caring staffs of Rocky Mountain Care, in Riverton, and Sunridge Assisted Living, in West Jordan, where Anne spent her last months. Many dear friends and neighbors also looked out for Anne, including Faye and Ken Darby, Vickie and Steve Coons, Karen Morris, Emily Mortensen, and Anne’s bishop, Mark Spencer.
The funeral will be August 26, at noon, preceded by a viewing at 10 a.m., at the Midas Creek Fifth Ward, 10860 South 3200 West, South Jordan, 84795. To stream the funeral services live, please return to this obituary on the Memorial Redwood Mortuary site, where a link will be available 24 hours prior to the services.
