Anthony “Tony” Wayne Glover, 64, passed away suddenly on Sunday night, March 26th at the University of Utah Hospital surrounded by those who love him.
Tony is survived by his wife, Jennette Glover, sons Anthony James (Justine) and Aedan Jaice, daughter Sophi Jolyse, daughter in law Jennessa Nannette (Jaj), his eight wonderful grandchildren Paisley, Derek, Tytan, David, Charlie, Stevie, Caspian and LaShawn, his brother Victor Earl, his sister Bernetta Yvonne father in law, Robert Schuening, and mother in law Irene Schuening.
He is preceded in death by, and will be reunited, with his children Maleah Monee, Charles Jerome (CJ), Annaka Hailey, David Jurgen, mother Flora Louise, Father Otis Victor, and Father in law Bruce Jensen and his grandmother and grandfather lovingly referred to as Grannie and Papa.
Tony was born February 27th, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. Growing up Tony took pride in his school work and anything he put his mind to he accomplished. He attended DeAnza High School and graduated in 1977. He then went on to attend Contra Costa College. He married the love of his life, Jennette Glover on May 11th, 1988 and they were sealed for time and all eternity on May 11, 1990. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings. Tony was an incredibly strong man and his work ethic could not be matched. He started his own business, Temporary Construction Power, where he worked strenuously to provide for his family.
For Tony the track was his second home. Whether competing, coaching or just watching, you could always find him there. Tony started running in high school where he excelled as a sprinter and long jumper. He followed his passion and continued running in college and was even an alternate for the 1984 Olympics in Long Jump. He held multiple records at his high school and college. Shortly after moving to Salt Lake City, Utah he started the Mercury Track Club and became the Youth chair of the USATF where he touched the lives of the many children he coached. He truly revolutionized the sport of Track and Field and grew the community here in Utah over the past 25 years.
Some of Tony’s hobbies he enjoyed were coaching, golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling, watching sports, playing Yahtzee and spending time with his family.
Tony was a friend to all.
