Ardith Betty Smith Leavitt, age 72 of Sandy Utah passed away peacefully in her home on October 31, 2022.
Ardith was born on April 30, 1950 to Earl and Emeline Smith in Murray, Utah. Losing her parents at a very young age, Ardith was raised by her oldest sister Joan and her husband Dick Brown. Ardith went on to graduate from Granger High School in 1968. Upon Graduation, she attended LDS Business College where she met her lifelong sweetheart, Dennis. Dennis and Ardith were married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on June 11, 1970.
Ardith was a homemaker, where her family was the focus of her life. She enjoyed being surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always up for playing a game of Uno, Skip Bo, Phase 10 or Sorry with anyone, or working on a crossword puzzle. Anything written in her hand was beautiful because of her perfect penmanship. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved finding the perfect gift for each one of her family members. Every year her favorite gift given was a calendar that was sewn by hand. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother.
Ardith is survived by her husband Dennis Leavitt, her children Kyle Leavitt (Teresa), Jeffery Leavitt, Jennifer Zeltner (Michael), April Leavitt, Corey Leavitt (Rachel) along with 16 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Ardith is preceded in death by her mother and father (Earl and Emeline Smith), Sisters (Joan and Gail), Brothers (Floyd, Earl Wayne and Harold), and one Grandson (Bryson Zeltner).
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Edgemont Ward Chapel, 9824 S Flint Drive (1150 E) Sandy Utah. Friends can meet with family members at a viewing on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Edgemont Ward Chapel, and on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be Monday, November 7, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. located at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. The family wishes to thank doctors Steven Richardson, and “The Good Kidney Doctor”- Gopal Chemiti, along with the Dialysis’ center at Intermountain Medical Center for taking great care of Ardith.
