Arlan Jay Reynolds

February 21, 1937 — June 7, 2026

West Valley City, Utah

Arlan Jay Reynolds passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 21, 1937, to Rulon Jay Reynolds and Irene Ruffell Reynolds, both of whom preceded him in death.

Arlan’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished his children and grandchildren and instilled in them a deep love for the outdoors. Many became avid hunters, learning not only the skills of the sport but also the values of patience, hard work, and respect for nature through his example.

He loved boating, camping, and attending archery shoots with his family. An accomplished archer, Arlan earned multiple National and World Records, a testament to his dedication and skill. He spent countless hours crafting his own bows and arrows, taking great pride in every detail and striving for excellence in all he created.

In his later years, Arlan’s faith became a source of strength and comfort. He dearly loved his Heavenly Father and relied on Him for courage and peace. He also had a special love for animals, especially dogs. In true Arlan fashion, any dog that crossed his path quickly became one of his own.

Above all, Arlan was proud of his family and the legacy he leaves behind. His love, wisdom, and example will continue to live on through the generations who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherrie (Sher), whom he married on August 3, 1978, and to whom he was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 18, 2017. He is also survived by his eight children: Carrie Huett; Sharrie Allsop (Randy); Stacy Snarr (Paul); Kelly (Bonita); Arlane (Mark); Tiffany Brady (Paul); Kye (Stacey); and Kris. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was enormously proud of his posterity.

He is further survived by his brothers, Charles (Anna), Leonard (Pat), Ray (Cheri), and Larry (Jolene); and his sister, Judy Kershaw.

Arlan was preceded in death by his parents, Rulon Jay Reynolds and Irene Ruffell Reynolds; his brother, Rulon; his sister, Claudette Nielsen; and his grandsons, Tyler Snarr and Gordon Scott.
