Arthur John Skidmore, Jr. of Salt Lake City, Utah died peacefully on July 12, 2013. Art was born on June 18, 1918 in Salt Lake City, the youngest of three children of Arthur J. Skidmore and Alice Leone Wiscomb. He married Helen Glauser, his high school sweetheart and love of his life, on August 14, 1942 in Denver, Colorado (later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 6, 1996). After World War II, Art and Helen raised their children in Salt Lake City where he had a successful career in the insurance industry with the Hartford and USF & G companies. Art loved golf, art, home and yard projects, music, and traveling with his wife Helen. He especially liked to visit his family and be included in their numerous activities: concerts, plays, recitals, trips to Lake Powell, weddings, and reunions.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Skidmore in 2007, and his son Stanley Skidmore (Kathy) in 2010, and older sisters Virginia Chytraus, and Helen Perkins.

Art will be long remembered by his family as "a kind, gentle, responsible, loyal, honest, quiet, thoughtful, respectful, and caring man."

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Terrace Grove and Sunshine Terrace Hospice for the comfort and assistance they gave to Art and his family.
