August Dean Crawford, Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Friend, passed away on May 4th, 2024, in Taylorsville, Utah from complications of Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.

Dean was born on July 26, 1949, to August Eugene and Wanda Lee (Racy) Crawford in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was known by his middle name, Dean, but was called "Deano" by those closest to him.

Dean loved the outdoors, hunting, collecting and trading guns, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and tools and gadgets of every kind, but his family always came first. He was an excellent father, grandfather, welder, mechanic, jokester, and teacher. He had the best laugh and gave the warmest hugs. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps (1967-1970) and is a VietNam Combat Veteran. Dean was a Union Millwright by trade, and a Union Representative for SWRCC later in his career. Dean was passionate about the Union and the right to a fair and living wage for all working people.

Dean was preceded in death by his Father (August), Mother (Wanda), and Sister (Dorothy Meyer). He is survived by his Wife Nancy, Son Michael (Alecia), Grandchildren (Ethan, Ashlee, Lillie}, Brother Don (Lynanne), Sister Dixie, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

We acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude to Dean's Nurse Wendy Selmos, his aide Juan Alvaraz, and all other staff from Inspiration Home Hospice for their loving care of him and making us all feel like family. We are also thankful to the staff at Legacy House Memory Care of Taylorsville for their loving care in his final weeks before his passing.
