Holladay

Barbara Hawkins Allred, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, tenderly surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on October 26, 1935, in Provo, Utah, to Willard and Wilma Hawkins. Her upbringing in her family instilled in her a deep sense of dedication to her faith and family. She spoke often about how thankful she was for her pioneer heritage and how it had blessed her and her family.

Barbara graduated from Provo High School in 1953 and attended Brigham Young University. She was a passionate BYU fan to the end. Go Cougs! Barbara married Evan L. Allred in the Salt Lake Temple on April 21, 1955. Together, they raised four sons: Kevin, Paul, Steven and Craig in a home that was filled with faith and strong family values. Barbara was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith and family were the things that she cherished the most in her life.

Barbara loved family gatherings and family vacations. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling and took many memorable trips with her family. She also had the opportunity to reconnect and travel with a good friend. Barbara always remembered everyone’s birthday in her family. Her homemade applesauce birthday cake is a family tradition.

Barbara enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She looked forward to being able to play the organ again once she got to the other side. She also enjoyed embroidery and hand stitching. Her home was adorned with her exquisite embroidery and hand-stitched pieces. Barbara volunteered and enjoyed serving for many years at IHC hospital, InstaCare, and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Wilma Hawkins; her husband, Evan L Allred; and her brothers, Keith, Carl, and Richard Hawkins. She is survived by her children Kevin (Shelly), Paul (Carol), Steven (Teri), and Craig (Barbara) Allred; her eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, all whom she adored.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her home care nurses, Kassidy, Morgan and Jordan; her home care aides, Megan and Samantha; and the incredible staff at Sunrise at Holladay for their compassionate care and support.

Barbara’s family will hold her in their hearts forever and will continue to honor her memory and the values she instilled in them. We love you Mom and Grandma!
