Barbara Ann Griffin

April 25, 1935 — November 12, 2025

Barbara Ann Griffin, born April 25, 1935, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Alta and Domenic DeMarco, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 12, 2025.

Barbara was the light of our lives and taught us the purest form of love — time spent together. She lived a life filled with grace, warmth, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was so much fun! Our “Gramcracker,” cherished time cooking dinner for her family on Sundays, having the grandkids sleepover, going over the top at Christmas, and trips together as a family.

A lifelong educator, Barbara spent her career teaching and inspiring others, both in and out of the classroom. As the proud wife of a Naval officer, she embraced every new chapter with courage and optimism, accompanying her family wherever duty called. She never complained — instead, she found joy in life’s new adventures and the people she met along the way.

Barbara was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding strength and peace through her faith and service.

She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Cynthia, beloved husband, Gerald, younger daughter Danielle, and grandchildren Griffin and Diana. She is survived by her grandchildren, Nick Dodge (Bree), Danielle Dodge, Cameron Dahlquist (Kayla), and Hannah Brown (Blake), and her great-grandchildren Logan, Bridger, Brooklyn, Brock and Reese who will forever carry her fun-loving personality through life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a cause so very close to her heart. Barbara’s family would like to recognize and thank the nursing staff of Spring Gardens Draper, and Inspiration home health and hospice for the phenomenal care she received.

Barbara always said she didn’t want a funeral — she wanted a party! Honoring her wishes, there will be a celebration of life reception held from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21st, at Mt. View Memorial Cemetery. 3115 E. Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights UT 84121. All are invited to pay their respects and celebrate memories of Barbara.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd.

Barbara’s legacy of kindness, strength, faith, fun, and love will continue to shine in all who were blessed to know her.
