Barbara Dutson Mccafferty

March 25, 1925 — March 15, 2010

Barbara Brown Hamblin Dutson McCafferty passed away peacefully March 15, 2010. She was born March 25, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William and Verona Brown Hamblin. The oldest of 5 children, she spent her early childhood in Lyman, Wyoming. Her family moved to Salt Lake City when she was 10.

She graduated from South High School and worked for many years as a secretary. She married Lorin Dene Dutson in the Salt Lake Temple December 29, 1943. He passed away in April, 1981. She married Silas "Bish" McCafferty in 1989. He passed away in March 2000.

Barbara was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings throughout her life. She loved to quilt and crochet, and blessed her family with her talents. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was very important to her. We felt her love from the support and influence she graciously gave. Sunday nights were spent together as a family and her home was a welcome gathering place. Surrounded by family, listening to the laughter, Barbara cherished these times, as do we.

She is survived by her children, Lorin LaMont (Christine) Dutson, Pamela (Kent) England; Daughter-in-law, Lizette Dutson; 13 grand children; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beth Sadler, Laura Lou (Norman) Nelson; sister-in-law, Sally Hamblin; numerous nieces and nephews, and the children and grandchildren of Bish McCafferty.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Dene and Bish; son, David Dutson; daughter-in-law, Anne-Marie Dutson; brother, Ken Hamblin; sister, Zola Hamblin.

We are very grateful to her nurse Jamie and the wonderful people at Our House who were so kind and loving in the care they gave to our mother.

We will miss her hugs, her sweet and humorous sayings, her smile and her generous heart. Though we are separated now, we have peace in knowing that her love will always be with us.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22, 2010 at 12 noon at the East Mill Creek Stake Center, 3103 East Craig Drive (3600 S). Friends and family can visit Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
