Be Thi Tran

November 8, 1934 — December 11, 2022

Be Thi Tran passed away on December 11th, 2022, while surrounded by her adoring children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was born in the Imperial City of Hue, Vietnam on November 8th, 1934. In 1951, while working at the local market in Da Nang, Be met the tall and handsome love of her life, Phat Huynh. Although Phat’s Vietnamese was limited and Be knew not a word of Chinese, their love began to grow as did their determination to learn one another’s native tongue. As a young married couple, they strived to create a stable life for their family. A career opportunity in Saigon resulted in Phat moving away from his family for a short time. Be’s sacrifice of staying back to care for their children is what created the strong and independent woman we have all known to love.

In 1992, Be, her husband and six of their children left Da Nang, Vietnam to join her children who resided in Utah. Despite their family’s growth and success over the years, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have maintained an incredibly close relationship. Be had two loves in life, family and roulette. Time seemed to stand still when she was with her family or in Vegas playing her favorite game. She lived a remarkably fulfilling life and will be remembered for her bright red lipstick and nail polish, her sense of humor and for being the matriarch of a family that was the epitome of the American dream.

You may hear Be’s family and friends boast about how courageous she was. Not only was she a warrior in her fight with health battles but she showed remarkable strength when she lost her oldest daughter in 2011, granddaughter in 2013, husband in 2014 and just weeks ago, her second oldest daughter.

She is survived by her children: Richard (Nancy), Jace (Jim), Giang Nhat (Dam), Hue, Phuong (Phong), Woa (Phuong Anh), Huu (Phuong), Ngoc Hoa (Tuan), Hai (Tina); her grandchildren: Ngan (Tuan), Nghia, Hanhnga (Ben), Hanhnghi (Frank), Kim Ngoc (T.J.), Sherry (David), Calvin, Chelsea, William, Chloe, Vinhson, Kenny, Phuong Thao, Thanh Nhi, Tien, Vy, Ben, MyLinh, Tai, Bill, Eliana, Emmalyn; her great grandchildren: MaiLien, Matthew, MaiKaylee, Khayleb, Zavia, Kyra, Kaden, Kygo, Amii Minh, Trex Thao.  She was preceded in death by her son, Luong Nhat Huynh; daughter, Kathy Nguyen; granddaughter, Olivia Jade Huynh; husband, Phat Huynh; and daughter, Lanh Huynh.

Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 am on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 and interment to follow.
