Benjamin Mason Jarman (Ben) passed away on August 2, 2026. Ben had a curious and brilliant mind, a gift for figuring things out, and a perspective that was uniquely his.

Born on May 4, 1992, Ben was lovingly welcomed into the family of Dean and Amy Jarman. From the very beginning, it was clear that Ben’s mind worked differently —with a fascination for how things fit together. At just three years old, he took apart the remote keyless entry to the family car and reassembled it perfectly. As a teenager, he tackled the Rubik’s Cube in his own way, writing out the algorithms that made sense to him as he solved it. His room was always full of parts, pieces, and projects — a landscape of ideas waiting to be built, repaired, or reinvented.

Ben loved computers with a passion that shaped much of his life. Over the years, he built some of the most impressive systems around. He was among the first in line when Apple launched the iPhone, and within hours he was proudly “jailbreaking” it so he could make it run the way he believed was best. Technology was his language, his comfort, and his way of connecting to the world.

Traditional schooling never matched the way Ben thought. He had his own way of working through problems. He worked as a programmer, a data miner, and explored artificial intelligence long before it became mainstream. Ben’s mind was always reaching for ways to make things better — faster and more efficient – and he did that through the world he understood best: computers and technology.

Those who knew Ben also knew that his brilliance came with deep struggles. His gifted mind was rarely still. He faced mental health challenges and addiction battles that demanded strength few ever see. Ben often gravitated toward people who shared his habits and interests, searching for connection in the ways he knew how. His gifts, at times, became the very things he wrestled with.

Even through his struggles, Ben tried, in the ways he could, to seek help. He entered treatment programs many times, each effort part of his complicated journey. His final program, beginning in 2025, was a sincere attempt to reclaim peace and stability. He worked hard. He wanted to succeed. And there is dignity in every step he took — in his recovery, in his setbacks, and in the courage it took to keep trying.

We love Ben deeply. He experienced the world in a way that was uniquely his, and we hold his memory with compassion. We are grateful knowing that he is now at peace.

Ben is survived by his father Dean, his mother Joelle, and his sister Jessie. He is also loved by his niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Amy, his younger brother Sam, and his grandparents Bruce and Gayle, and Keith and Betty.

Ben was laid to rest on September 2, 2026, followed by a private family memorial and grave dedication on September 6, 2026.
