Benjamin Lee Hong, born January 13, 1959, in Busan, South Korea to father Tae Sun Lee and mother Young Sook Lee, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 2, 2025.
Ben was a dedicated and hard-working man who deeply cherished his family and friends. A proud graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Business, he owned and operated his own successful business in Roy, Utah for many decades, a testament to his work ethic and commitment to caring for his family. Known for his warmth and generosity, he loved spending time with loved ones, whether it was fishing, sharing a latte with friends, or taking road trips with family. Ben was a talented handyman who could fix nearly anything he put effort into and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His love for good food and the time spent sharing a meal with family and friends brought joy to all those who had the privilege of sharing his company. His kindness, compassion, and willingness to support others will leave a lasting legacy, and he will be, without a doubt, dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Hyonju Hong, daughter Jennifer Hong (Naser Abu-Rmaileh), daughter Sarah Hong, sister Kyung Soon Lee (Jung Moon Kim), brother William Lee (Guimin), sister Kyong Ahe Lee (Yang Ki Hong) and brother Thomas Hong (Jee Wan).
He is preceded in death by father Tae Sun Lee, mother Young Sook Lee, uncle Harry Hong, aunt Doris Hong and sister Elizabeth Cho.
There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, August 8th at 2:00 PM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery (3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah). Per Ben’s wishes to be cremated, there will be no viewing, but a gathering of friends and family one hour prior to the memorial service.
