Bert Carter returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on June 18, 2026. He was born on February 10, 1931, to Doyle and Myrtle Carter in Daniel, Utah.
He married Gloria Gledhill on November 20, 1951, in the Manti LDS Temple. Bert and Gloria had three children: Sherri (Tom) Shepherd, Saundra (George) Brereton, and Randy (Emilia) Carter.
Bert and Gloria shared a long and loving marriage filled with traveling, camping, game nights, friends, and family.
Bert served for 36 years in the Utah Air National Guard and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant.
As a young man, he worked in the timber above Kamas with his trusted horse, Red. He later earned his private pilot's license.
Bert was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served in many church callings. He and Gloria also completed a service mission for the Church.
Bert is survived by his children; three brothers, Von Carter, Clair Carter, and Ray Elder; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; his parents; his sister, Carol Parcell; his brothers, Kay Elder, Dallas Elder, and Dale Brinkerhoff; and his great-grandchild, Ricki Lynn Demille.
The family would like to thank Canyon Home Care and Hospice, especially his CNA, Brady, and his hospice nurse, Katie, for the loving care they provided to our dad.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 132 North 570 East, Tooele, Utah. Family and friends may visit with the family at a viewing prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
