Betsy Barnard Brett

Betsy Barnard Brett, 65 of Brigham City, Utah passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at Sandstone Health Care in Brigham City with her loving family by her side.

Betsy was born on July 20, 1958, in Brigham City, Utah to Blaine Davis Barnard and Virginia Constance Potter. She grew up in Perry, Utah, and attended Box Elder High School.

Betsy’s life drastically changed in 1985 after a serious assault on her life in Florida that left her with multiple disabilities at age 27. Thereafter she spent the majority of her life in nursing homes due to the need for full-time care.

She met and married Edward Brett on February 28, 1990. Eddie loved her so much and would always spoil her and bring a smile to her face.  Through the care of others Betsy and Eddie were able to live together in an apartment for 18 years.  Eddie preceded Betsy in death on February 20, 2010.

Betsy loved the Utah Jazz, attended many games, and collected all of their memorabilia.  She loved the color purple and Disney movies.  Betsy was an avid collector of many things; spoons from around the world, key chains, Furby’s, porcelain dolls, and anything soft and cuddly.  She enjoyed celebrating her birthdays and holidays with her sister Verlaine and her family and special visits from her family.

Betsy is survived by her son, D. Zephry Woehler of Utah, four siblings and their spouses; Verlaine Rennemeyer (Wayne), Robert Barnard (Michele), Jill Barnard (Tim Eull), and Stephen Barnard (Theresa). She is also survived by 7 nephews and 4 nieces, numerous grand-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Eddie and her parents.

A special thanks to the staff at Sandstone Health Care and Symbii Hospice for their loving care and compassion for Betsy.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at Memorial Lakeside Hills Mortuary and Cemetery on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.  10055 South State Street Sandy, Utah 84070.
