Betty Jean Farnsworth

Feb 7, 1943 — Aug 17, 2026

Betty Farnsworth passed away at her home on August 17, 2026, surrounded by family after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the only daughter of the late Glen and LaVon Peterson.

Betty was a talented seamstress who created gifts that will be cherished forever. She loved collecting knickknacks. We were always rearranging and redecorating to make room for her latest treasures. She also had the only green thumb in the family and could grow just about anything and was an amazing cook.

Her children, grandchildren, and dogs were the center of her life. She was the rock that held our family together, and the traditions we shared over the years will be cherished and missed by all. Betty was not a people person, but if someone was in need, she was always there to help, no matter who they were.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harold Farnsworth; her children, Jeri Flynn, Devlin Flynn, and Dana Allen (Sam); her grandchildren, Christie Hoskins (Ryan), Trina Cano, Kaizer Flynn, Zander Flynn, and Michael Finnegan; her great-grandchildren, Caleb Hoskins, Brady Hoskins, and Mylee Wolfe; and, of course, her dogs, Toby and Cage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and LaVon Peterson; her son, John Finnegan; her grandson, Logan Flynn; her eight brothers, baby boy Peterson, Donald, Glen, George, Bob, Gordy, Calvin, and Harvey Peterson; and her best friend and partner in crime, Fern Lougy.

She will be remembered for the love and care she gave to her family, her amazing food, the friends who called her Mom, and the compassion she showed to those in need. She will be deeply missed. Although saying goodbye is difficult, we are grateful she is free of illness, at peace and no longer suffering.

Thank you to Active Hospice for caring for her during this difficult time.

Memorials may be made to your local Humane Society. It’s true—she loved animals more than people.

Private services will be held at a later date.
