Betty was so many wonderful things. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings during her life. She was a loyal and loving family member, trusted confidant and friend, talented canner and cook, and a remarkable singer, dancer and event planner. Betty had an amazing superpower of building the most special and personal relationships with those she loved and cared about. She knew what every person loved and liked, what defined them and what was important to them. She celebrated us on an individual basis by always remembering these little things, and the big things too. We always felt seen, understood and loved. She was never too busy to tickle our faces, rub our hair or provide a listening ear.
She never shied away from the tragedies and un-pleasantries of life but faced them all head on with courage and faith. Even through all her own suffering in life, she held our hands and walked beside every one of us as we lived our own trials. She was the definition of love and charity. Betty was blessed with being the matriarch of five generations during her life. Tradition was very important to Betty. From cool whip balls to bottling grape juice, we all carry with us the priceless legacy of the countless, treasured traditions that she always preserved and provided for us. She was renowned for her traditional, elaborate and homemade Thanksgiving dinners, where everyone was welcomed with open arms. Gardening and flowers were Betty’s passion, and she had an extraordinary way of helping things grow and making things beautiful.
During her younger years, Betty and her sisters belonged to The Sisters Quartet, a travelling barbershop quartet with the Bountiful Chapter of the Sweet Adeline’s. Betty loved her family and friends very much and there was nothing more important to her. Her love, smile and example will live on inside each and every one of us. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We will treasure our memories of Betty forever and she will always be in our hearts.
The family would like to thank Ryan and Hollie Roodbol for taking such good care of Betty and for being a part of the family. We would also like to thank, Lisa Summers, Symbii Hospice, nurse Camela and all of the nurses, CNAs and staff at Covington Place for taking such exceptional care of Betty.
