Betty J. Nielsen, a devoted mother, talented artisan, and cherished community friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of beauty, creativity, and selfless service.
Born on November 29, 1937, to Robert and Verdell Johnson, Betty was the 2nd of 5 children, John Johnson (Deceased) Bob Johnson, (Deceased) Deanna Cox (Deceased) and Darlene Phipps. Betty grew up radiating grace and charm. A celebrated moment in her youth was being crowned Miss Pleasant Grove - a highlight of her life that brought her lifelong joy and fond memories that she loved sharing with family and friends.
Betty was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Lewis Berry, with whom she had three wonderful children: Dale Berry, Duane Berry, and Rochelle Beutler. Later in life, Betty remarried the love of her life, Rex E. Nielsen, gaining three additional beloved stepchildren: Earla Nielsen Keller, Jodi N. Williams and Jeanna Louise Nielsen Dalton. Rex and Betty’s union was later eternalized when they were sealed in the LDS Temple.
Extremely creative and gifted with her hands, Betty found immense joy in gardening, quilting, jewelry making, flower arranging, and crafting alongside her dear friends. Her eye for beauty translated brilliantly into her professional life as well. Betty worked in the jewelry industry for 25 years, developing an extraordinary eye for fine gems—she could spot the top diamonds from across the room. Her flair for style also shone bright in retail, beginning at Wolfe’s Sporting Goods, where she was the top salesperson and had the pleasure of personally styling iconic figures like Robert Redford and the Osmond family.
Above all, Betty had a heart centered on giving back. She regularly gathered with her craft group to stitch love into quilts that were donated to the VA and local hospitals, bringing warmth and comfort to those in need.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Rochelle Beutler, Gregory Leo Beutler her daughter-in-law, Cecilia Berry Armstrong; (Dale Berry) and her stepdaughters, Earla Nielsen Keller, Jodi N. Williams, and Jeanna Louise Nielsen Dalton, 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rex; and her beloved sons, Dale Berry and Duane Berry.
Betty’s elegance, vibrant spirit, and generous heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
