Betty was born in Bridgeland Utah on April 22nd, 1947, to Walter E. Meyer and Vernetta (Murphy) Meyer, she was the fourth of six children. Preceded in death by the oldest brother, father, mother and sweet granddaughter. She enjoyed the country life of riding horses, milking cows, and playing in the irrigation ditches with her siblings and cousins on hot summer days. The family moved to Midvale Utah when she was eight years old. There she attended Hillcrest High School, graduating in 1964.
Betty was a friend, daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Ronald and Betty were married for almost five decades, in those years they raised eight children and welcomed thirty-seven grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her attributes was that she loved to laugh, joke and play around with everyone. She would always get down on the floor and play with us kids and the grandkids alike. To name some of her hobbies, painting both in acrylics and oils, sewing, quilting, crocheting and needlepoint work. In the last several years she had a passion for glass blowing at the coast and shared that experience with many friends and family,
Betty passed away at her home in Dallas, Oregon on July 15, 2024. She is survived by her husband Ronald Schofield, Children: Chris Schofield, Gary Schofield, Steven (Karen) Schofield, Niki (Cliff) Hollstein, Deanne Schofield, Mindi (Andy) Abeyta, Jeffrey (Stormy) Schofield, Corie Schofield. Brother Rod (Sue)Meyer, Sister Dee (Jack) Melton, Brother Rick (Cindy) Meyer, Brother Gary Meyer and many Grandchildren, cousins and friends.
Betty and Rons service will be Saturday September 28th, 2024, at Redwood Memorial Estates at 6500 South Redwood Rd. The family will receive visitors starting at 10 am, the service will be at 11am followed by a gravesite dedication. The family requests that flowers be sent to the SLC service on September 28th at Redwood Memorial Estates.
