Beverly C. Nelson, Age 87, passed away September 13, 2022 in Holladay, Utah.
Mom was born August 15th, 1935 in Great Falls, Montana to Fannie and John Mican.
Mom graduated from high school in Stanford, Montana in 1953 and attended and graduated from nursing school in Missoula, Montana in 1957. She met and later married Dad on June 14 of that year and had 4 beautiful children whom they were both very devoted to.
Mom had many talents and hobbies. One of which she especially enjoyed was working with her sewing machine. Mom worked her magic with her small Singer-brand sewing machine, creating her original designs which she outfitted the entire family in. This included Halloween costumes, Mom rarely paid money for store-bought costumes. David vividly remembers the Halloween Mom made him a custom C3PO costume out of a heavy vinyl material that pulled 3 lbs of weight off him by the end of the night.
Mom also had a great love for gardening and making her yard beautiful. Mom was meticulous about keeping her yard looking just so. It was normal to see Mom out in the yard during a hot Summer day at high noon in one of her many sweat suits. This is just one of the ways Mom taught us about the importance of working hard.
Mom’s love for the outdoors also extended to the many small animals that called her yard their home. The backyard became a sanctuary for all sorts of birds and little critters who Mom made sure to furnish food. A visit to see Mom and Dad wasn’t complete until Mom gave us the latest on the squirrel family that visited with her each morning.
The greatest part about Mom was the never ending love she had for her family. She doted over her children and grandchildren and made sure they never went without. She taught us through her example, lessons of sacrifice, hard work, honor, the importance of laughing and love. She made you feel like you were the very best at whatever you did. Whatever you were into, Mom would let you know what a big deal you were. If you had a rough day or were feeling down, she dropped whatever she was doing to be there for you. Mom never ended a conversation without telling you she loved you. She was just the absolute best!
Mom was preceded in death by our Dad David, her father John, mother Fannie, and her stepfather Bill Madsen. She is survived by her four children Barbara, Patty (Bill), Karen and David (Melissa) as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
