Billie Jo Maurer

Billie Jo Maurer, age 79 of West Point passed away peacefully surrounded by her children who loved her dearly on August 23, 2026 in her daughter's home in West Haven.

Billie Jo was born December 7, 1946, in Heber City to Minnie Jordan Spanton and William Holland Spanton (better known as Billy Boy). Billie Jo and her former husband Clifton Steele had 8 children. She later married Charlie Maurer and spent many years with him traveling and making memories before he passed away. She had many jobs and titles throughout her life, but her favorite titles were mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and homemaker.

Billie cherished her role as a sister, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the heart of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was a loving and caring woman whose presence brought warmth, comfort, and joy to those around her.

Billie Jo was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved being a member of the church and loved her Savior Jesus Christ. Her faith carried her through many difficult times in her life. She served in many callings throughout her life and enjoyed the friendships she made during that time. She served a Temple Square Mission from March 2010-2013 and considered this one of her greatest accomplishments in life. She loved Gods beautiful creations and found peace in the mountains and at the ocean. Her favorite scripture was Ecclesiastes 3:4 “A time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” She is dancing in heaven with her mom and dad. Billie had a creative spirit and loved to quilt and sew. Through her hands, she created beautiful things that will continue to remind her family of the love and care she put into everything she did. She often would take a coke and chocolate donut to people including strangers she meets to cheer them up if they were having a hard day. She loved to cook and everyone loved her holiday sugar cookies. She believed coke, chocolate donuts and a shake could cure anything. She loved to make people laugh and often did with her funny personality. Though she will be deeply missed, Billie Jo’s love and memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Billie Jo is survived by her three sisters Holly Broadhead, Connie Hansen and Betty Quinn all of Payson Utah whom she loved dearly. Billie Jo and her former husband Clifton Steele had 8 children. Cindi Jo Buckley (Sam), Jared Steele (Amy), Aaron Steele (Kim), Amy Jo Nichols, Adam Steele (Donna), Angela Jo Jacob (Spencer), Joshua Steele (Becci), Jenny Jo Jensen (Mitch). She had 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her mother Minnie Jordan Spanton and Father William Spanton and late husband Charlie Maurer. Her family is grateful that she was able to spend her final moments peacefully, surrounded by the people she loved most. She had requested a small private family graveside funeral in her hometown of Heber City where she will be laid to rest next to her mom and dad.
