Blanche Rust Rasmussen passed away peacefully in her home with a smile on her face June 7, 2009. Blanche was born April 22, 1919 in Kanab, Utah to David and Ruth Woolley Rust, the 7th of nine children. When she was nine years old, David and Ruth moved their family to Provo to provide opportunity for higher education. All nine children attended Brigham Young University.
She married Elden Urban Rasmussen in the Salt Lake Temple Sept. 26, 1945 when he returned from serving 4 years in the Air Force during World War II.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved doing genealogy and family history on her computer. She had an endearing relationship with her children and each of her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her example of strength compassion and testimony will be her enduring legacy. Her love and generosity for her family was evidenced daily, as she provided opportunities for travel, education, and missions for each member of her family.
She served in numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Relief Society and Young Women Presidencies. She and Elden loved serving missions at Temple Square and Independence, MO. They also served in the Salt Lake Temple for 13 years.
They are the parents of four children, 15 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband Elden; and son, Jordan. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie (David G.) Moore, Diane (Doug) Duckworth, Ann Marie (David) Herpich; daughter-in-law, DeAnn (Tom) Kilgore; and sister, Helen George.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 13, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Garden Heights Ward, 2220 East Fisher Lane (2935 South). Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Saturday morning from 10:30am to 11:30am prior to the services. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates. In lieu of flowers the children suggest contributions be made to the Blanche and Elden Rasmussen Education Scholarship, 4018 University Cir., Ogden, UT 84408-4018.
