Bonnie Mae Landvatter

May 8, 1925 — April 11, 2010

Bonnie Mae Landvatter, wonderful wife and mother, was greeted on Sunday, April 11, 2010, by family and friends who have gone before.

Bonnie was born on May 8, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Ernest Frederick and Laura Martine Jorgensen. Gifted with a beautiful voice and a natural talent for music, Bonnie sang in high school choruses, women's popular music trios, Salt Lake USO performances, the Schubert Singers Ladies Chorus, Utah Symphony Chorus, Cathedral of the Madeleine Parish Choir, and in her various LDS ward choirs. Aside from her family and God, there was nothing Bonnie loved more than music and singing.

Bonnie married Alfred W. Landvatter on November 12, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and, over the years, raised a family of six children. In addition to being a wife and mother, Bonnie worked for the Granite School District and, later, for the LDS Church Architectural Office. It was often at work that Bonnie's sense of humor and skill for practical jokes came to the fore. Rigging a co-worker's phone to ring repeatedly or placing "out of order" signs on the doors of fully functional restrooms were typical pranks that kept her colleagues entertained or, at least, guessing.

Along with her flair for humor, her ready smile, and her abidingly optimistic outlook, Bonnie, like all of us, had her endearing quirks, such as offering superfluous commentary while watching movies with others or spontaneously reading passages from magazine articles aloud to anyone who might be sitting nearby. Yet, these idiosyncrasies added to Bonnie's uniqueness and were part of the person we all have loved and admired.

Bonnie was very wise and highly intuitive regarding the needs of her family. She was warm and friendly and thoroughly accepting of others, including those whose background, ethnicity, or belief systems were different than her own. Her love for her family and for God were powerful and she lived her life valiantly and with courage, even at times of great trial. As a family, we have all been truly blessed and made better through Bonnie's earthly presence among us.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent services of Harmony Home Health and Hospice and the members of the LDS Hillcrest 5th Ward. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Primary Children's Medical Center.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, 5 living children, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 12 noon at the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 915 East 9045 South, Sandy, UT. Friends can visit with the family Wednesday evening from 6:00 a
