Brandy Rose Scholte, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away on October 4, 2026 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on March 19, 1987, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and she lived a life that was full, colorful, and entirely her own.
Anyone who knew Brandy knew she had a gift for people. She was sharp, funny, and refreshingly honest, the kind of person who told you the truth and made you laugh while she did it. She made friends easily and kept them close, reading a room better than just about anyone. She lived her life on her own terms, all the way to the end. Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2018, she never let it consume her. Even to the last day, she looked death in the eye and said, “I will never give up”. Her courage and strength will forever be a testament to her character and the woman she was.
Brandy married the love of her life, Peter Scholte, on November 28, 2014. Together they built a home filled with warmth, creativity, humor, and no shortage of animals (Bentley, Sophia, and Petey), which she loved fiercely and without exception. She welcomed her daughter, Hayden, on August 18, 2008, and her son, Ethan, on April 2, 2017. Being their mom was the greatest joy of her life.
She loved to travel, and she and her family even lived in Italy from 2024 to 2025, soaking up every bit of the adventure. Brandy loved gardening, had a natural talent for homemade crafts, and spent her free time doing both while listening to music. Halloween was her favorite holiday, and she threw herself into it with the same spirit she brought to everything else.
Even while battling her own cancer diagnosis, Brandy thought of others. At the Cancer Specialists of North Florida in Fleming Island, she went out of her way to help fellow patients feel more comfortable during treatment, offering comfort and company when it mattered most.
She is survived by her husband, Peter; her daughter, Hayden; her son, Ethan; her sister, Robyn Carlson; and many other loving family members and friends to include Mike and Lisa Williams, Lyndzie and Chris Eddards, Barbara Larsen, and Madison Ellis.
Brandy believed deeply in the quiet comfort of her animal companions, and the words of George Eliot suited her well:
"Animals are such agreeable friends; they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms."
Brandy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the kind of easy, unconditional companionship she gave so freely to others.
