Brent Donell Hardcastle, a beloved brother, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, passed away in his home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, just two weeks after his 69th birthday. He was born on January 27, 1957 to his late parents, Dimond and Vivian Hardcastle.
Brent has joined his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Andersen Hardcastle. He is survived by his three children: J.I. Hardcastle (Lindsay), Jessie Kay Munro (Ben), and Katie McQuarrie (Justin); 12 grandchildren; siblings Tom Hardcastle (Rosalie), Terry Powell (Frank), Peggy Margetts (Mont), and Christine Seddon (Steve); and many nieces and nephews.
Brent was a man unlike any other. No matter what blocked the path, he would rise triumphant on the other side with a hand reaching out to guide those still behind. He appreciated life, the beauty of the human experience. He would not want those he loved to mourn him, but rather celebrate the life he lived. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Brent served diligently and faithfully fulfilled many callings. He proudly served a mission in Ohio, joyfully spreading the Gospel with all who would hear his teachings. Most notably was his time as bishop and a temple worker. As more than just a bishop, he was a mentor and friend, lending a constant listening ear and neverending compassion for his ward. His time as a temple worker was a great blessing in his life, and serving in the Lord’s Holy House brought him pure joy and a love for his fellow man. Brent’s faithful dedication guided his path of righteous living. Now he peacefully returns to his true home, and is joyfully reunited with his dear Patty.
He was a man of inspiration and guidance for all who were near. He acquired many talents and accomplishments through his life, yet nothing made him prouder or happier than his family. Seeing them together brought a smile to his face that couldn’t be removed. Living a life of compassion and deep, devoted love, he put his all into his family, always putting them first and showing up when they needed him most. He had the best advice, through his years of experience, and happily bestowed it onto his children who are his greatest pride and joy. He listened carefully and attentively, doing everything in his power to be there for those once in a lifetime moments. Whether attending family dinners or holidays, or showing up unexpectedly or calling randomly, Brent dedicated his life to ensuring those he loved felt it. The love and peace he carried with him was greater than life itself, and it now continues on in the legacy he’s left behind with his children. Throughout Brent’s life, he didn’t let anything stop him from being with those who needed him most. He made the time to be there for those he cared about most. His life mission was to support and love the people around him, and he did it with his entire being. No matter the time, distance, or concern, he would drop anything to be supportive in any challenge being faced. He gave his life to others, and now he watches from above as his legacy carries on.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, at the Oquirrh 3rd Ward Church building (6673 S. Clernates Dr., 84081) at 10 a.m. A public viewing will be held the evening prior from 6 - 8 p.m. at Memorial Redwood Estates (6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan).
