Brent lived a life full of family, faith, and fishing.
A native Utahn, he spent his youth chasing big game across Wasatch peaks and trout all over the state. As a young man he found the catch of his life in Marcia. It didn’t take long for him to realize she was one he couldn’t let go.
Together Brent and Marcia raised four children in Salt Lake City – Lori, Kaye, Shari, and Brent Jr. Whether it was in church on Sunday, at a campsite in Island Park, or playing in front of the house on Catalina Drive, the Thompson family life was full of laughter and love for one another.
And just like a mountain stream, that love trickled down across generations. Brent taught his grandsons how to hunt and fish, shared his faith and love for music with his granddaughters, and told a great life story to anyone who would listen. Brent clearly believed in the power of the ones who will live after him.
Just less than a year ago, Marcia passed to the other side. She was the true love of Brent’s life. After 66 years of marriage, they were two sides of one coin. And as the past months have gone by, it became clear that Brent needed to be with her again.
Brent passed away peacefully with his family at his side. And while many are sad over this loss, all know that he is where he’s supposed to be. He is alongside his greatest partner, and patiently waiting for the rest of his family to join him. May he rest in peace.
Brent is survived by his daughters, Kaye Dunn (Harold) and Shari Knudson (Blaine Rudd), and son Brent Thompson Jr. (Angee). He is also survived by sister, Claudia Bunker, and many grandchildren and their families.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marcia Lynne Tanner Thompson, their daughter Lori, and Lori's son, Nicholas Francis. Brent’s parents, Claude M. and Madeline Perschon Thompson, along with his brothers, Bill, Bob and Scott, all passed before him.
