Bruce Allen Snider, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, quietly returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025, after a long, difficult struggle with his health.
Bruce was born to Ethel Freeman and Leroy Snider on February 5, 1947. They divorced, and he was raised by Ethel and Virgil Decker, who truly was his father.
Bruce graduated from Cyprus High School in 1965. While in high school, he was a member of the track and field and wrestling teams. Upon graduation, he immediately served an LDS mission in Lewiston, Idaho, which was interrupted by a call to serve in the US Army. He served his country proudly in Japan during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969.
In the short weeks between his mission and basic training, he was able to marry his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Bean, on June 3, 1966. Bruce and Bonnie had five children together, whom he loved dearly.
Bruce worked for the United States Postal Service from 1969 to 2002, where he held positions ranging from letter carrier to postal supervisor.
Bruce served as a Bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1983 to 1987 in the Kearns 19th Ward.
Bruce was eager and often an aggressive participant in church activities such as softball and basketball. He was a talented photographer. He loved photographing nature, and he was often sought after to commemorate special occasions for family and friends.
Bruce was never an idle person. After his retirement from the post office, he held multiple part-time jobs and served two church service missions with Bonnie in Salt Lake City. Bruce loved serving his Savior and served in many other church positions, ranging from primary teacher to ward mission president.
Bruce loved his country and was a true patriot. He enjoyed sharing stories with fellow veterans whenever he had the chance. One of the most memorable things about Bruce is his quick wit and warm personality. Bruce never met a stranger and was always one of the first to welcome newcomers.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Bonnie Snider; siblings Suzanne Beesely, Francine Swinney, Marie Van Cleave, Brent Decker, and Brad Decker; five children, Lisa (Stephen) Faber, Paula (Dion) Santistevan, Nathan Snider, David (Brandy) Snider, and Heather Van Beekum (Janis White); and eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Decker, Virgil Decker, and Leroy Snider; his brothers, Robbert Snider and William Decker.
The family would like to express profound gratitude to Quality Hospice, especially to Dr. Ann Clark, Emily, Amanda, and Mary.
A viewing will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5000 West Pavant Avenue, West Valley City, Utah.
