Byron Ted Erickson, age 86, passed away on April 15, 2026, in South Jordan, Utah. He was born on February 13, 1940, in Tooele, Utah to Wayne Matthew and Alice Nelson. He married Sherry Erickson on August 26, 1960.
Ted had many interests he loved music and played guitar, piano, organ, and in high school the French horn. He loved camping, fishing, square dancing, and sports. He made sure that we always had a pool. He made sure we had lots of fun. He would bring us to Utah almost every summer to spend time with extended family. Dad worked for IBM for 30 years. He received an engineering education while serving in the U.S. Army. He served in Okinawa and had some great stories of his time there. In 1963 he got an offer from IBM, and we re-located to San Jose, California. After retirement, he purchased a business called MasterMark that he loved. He and Sherry moved back to Utah in 2001 where he and mom were able to spend time with family. After Sherry passed last August, his health declined until he joined all the loved ones who passed before him.
Ted is survived by Brenda Park, Roger & Mindy Erickson, Sandy & Dave Patterson, and James & Suyen Erickson (deceased). Brothers Larry, Dale, Fred, Shauna, Janet, David, and Joseph Erickson.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sherry Erickson, parents Wayne and Alice Erickson, brothers Randy Erickson and Jon Erickson.
Services for Ted will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Memorial Holladay/Cottonwood Mortuary 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay with a viewing 1 hour prior. Interment will take place at the Murray City Cemetery.
