Callie Darlene Harris Mcmurdie

Callie called her family together on July 4th and bore testimony of Jesus Christ. She died peacefully on July 5th, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born to Calvin Harris and Dora Bliss Harris on May 5th, 1932. She graduated from the LDS Business College. She married Deward McMurdie on January 5th, 1954 they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Callie was a patriot and championed many causes. She was gifted in cooking, writing, drama, music, and art. She enriched and enlightened any event or occasion with her creative talents. Callie had a deep love for her ancestors and labored much of her life writing family histories. She was an active member of the DUP and Mormon Battalion. She served in many church callings in the Salt Lake Highland Stake. She worked to the end as a Service Missionary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Addiction Recovery Program.

She is survived by her sister, Louise Behling of Logandale NV; daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Mortensen, Doralee Jones, Merilynn (Mark) Lloyd, Tori (Drew) Pope, Charla (Shawn) Todd; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a loving extended family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crystal Heights Ward: 1970 E. Stratford Ave. (2600 S.), in S.L.C., UT. The family will receive friends at a viewing held on Sunday, July 10th between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., and at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
