Candice “Candi” Campbell, daughter of Jay and Anna Beth (Jensen) Campbell, passed away during the early morning hours last Monday. She was born in Rexburg, Idaho. She grew up in Alamosa, Colorado, where she made dear friends who she stayed close to for her entire life. After high school, Candi studied nursing at Brigham Young University and served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the reserves in the Alberta Saskatchewan Mission. She developed a great love for the indigenous population she served among. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many ways in the Church throughout her life.

Candi completed a Master’s Degree at Utah State University in Rehabilitation Counseling followed by thirty years of dedicated service for the State of Utah as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. She excelled in her profession. Over the years she helped raise the skills and confidence of hundreds of clients struggling to find and keep employment, and because of her talents, she was given opportunities to train and mentor younger counselors. We found countless letters and notes in Candi’s files of clients expressing gratitude for how she had helped them.

Candi loved the arts. With her aunt Tamara Phelps, Candi regularly attended the Pioneer Theater Company, the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre. There is no bigger BYU sports fan than Candi, and her enthusiastic support led to some lively interactions with U of U fans at her work and in the family. She had a great love for our country and was active in community and civic affairs.

Candi will always be remembered for her compassionate caregiving. She moved in with her mother and took personal care of her the last few years of her life. Later, when her dad passed away, Candi, along with her sister Tammy, made weekly visits for years to support their stepmother, Beth Ann Stewart. Candi had a special bond with her nieces and nephews. On their birthdays, she would send a generous gift and a lengthy, personal letter encouraging each one and complimenting them on their unique attributes. She extended this sweet service to her great nieces and nephews as well. The children in Candi’s neighborhood knew her and loved her.

Candi’s health started to fail last fall. Her final outing was to attend a Campbell Christmas party last December. She came in a wheelchair and didn’t feel well, but we won’t forget the bright, kind, generous and uplifting spirit she brought into the room.

Candi was preceded in death by her parents and two stillborn siblings. She is survived by her brothers John Campbell and Woodrow “‘Woody”’ Campbell, and her sisters Tamara “‘Tammy”’ Feinauer and Nola Campbell. Tammy’s husband, Mark Feinauer, passed away just two hours before Candi. We rejoice in the knowledge that Candi and Mark experienced a remarkable joy together as they entered the spirit world.

There will be a viewing at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Olympus 5th Ward meetinghouse located at 3070 East Nila Way, Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday May 29th at 12:30 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Following the funeral, her interment will be at the Holladay Memorial Park at 4900 South Memory Lane (2000 East), Holladay, Utah.
