Carlin Jacobson

Carlin was born to Carl I. Jacobson and Thelma L. Austin on May 1, 1940 in Murray, UT, and passed away at home, also in Murray on May 16, 2025.

He worked for Kennecott and then Blue Cross Blue Shield as a mainframe computer programmer until he retired. Carlin joined the Utah Air National Guard and served for 8 years. He served on the North Salt Lake City council for 8 years and was a Toastmasters president for many years. Carlin served a mission in the Southwest “Indian” mission from 1960-63. He loved restoring his 1962 MGA and driving around showing off to his friends, family, and co-workers.

Carlin was a people person and loved to help people, fix things, build things and make people laugh. He was very creative and collected antiques. He loved doing things for friends and neighbors and was a fixture in the neighborhood, walking his dog, Buddy, several times a day. Carlin was one of a kind and loved by all.

Carlin married and later divorced Lynette Orgil, having had three children with her. He then married LaDawn Jacobson and had one child and they later divorced. In 2002 Carlin Jacobson married Melody Burt and they were married until he passed away.

Carlin Jacobson is survived by his wife, Melody Burt, his children; Brenda Dougan (Gary), Kris Jacobson, Devin Jacobson (Rachel), Kellie Stephens (Quentin), and his brother Cardell Jacobson (Rosanne). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sister, Loreen Berlin.

Funeral services for Carlin will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with a viewing from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at 6180 South Glenoaks Street, Murray, Utah 84107. Interment will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
