Carma Ann Tolman

September 12, 1937 — July 5, 2025

Salt Lake City

She was born in 1937 in small town Hyrum, Utah, to parents Peter Hans and Anna Irene Andersen. Carma was one of thirteen children in this close-knit family.

Her unique artistic talents, especially her gift for drawing people, created some of our most cherished possessions. She was a devoted Utah Jazz and BYU enthusiastic superfan, cheering loudly from home while watching games. Her over-the-top enthusiasm extended to her kids' little league baseball games in Kearns, where she was the loudest and proudest—sometimes embarrassingly so—colossal mega fan in the stands.

She was protective of her children, had a quick wit with just the right amount of shock value, and her six children are her precious gifts. Her love of baking incredible made-from-scratch pies and bread provided memorable family meals. Her home was always a place where people came together, a place of joy and laughter.

It's difficult to imagine how someone with this much love and generosity could possibly have more to give, but the addition of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even a great-great-grandchild, we found ourselves quickly relegated obsolete by the new generations.

Her legacy lives not in what she had, but in who she helped us become. Her morals became our compass, her strength our foundation.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." - Proverbs 31:25

Her love remains our greatest blessing.
