Carmon Slaugh

January 13, 1925 — July 10, 2010

Born in Vernal, Utah to Benjamin G. and Birdie R. Slaugh, Carmon was the sixth of fourteen children. He is survived by his sister Jen and brothers Duane, Dan and Morgan. He is also survived by his loving and caring wife of 52 years, Naoma Karren Slaugh; their four children, Kip Slaugh, Kim Marshall-McTeague, Shona Peterson and Shelly Nahass, along with their spouses, Sue, Jerry, Brad and Gregg. Carmon is "Papa" to 11 adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Carmon's legacy includes serving his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 until 1946. He was a member of the elite 2nd Marine Raider Battalion and bravely fought in several of the fiercest campaigns of the Pacific during WWII. He was the recipient of four Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, four Combat Medals, a Presidential Citation and the Navy Marine Corp Medal.

Carmon's life was also that of the hardworking owner-operator of a small construction business which was a source of employment for anyone in need of a job that was willing to put in a hard day's work. It was not unusual for him to get a phone call from someone looking for work and his response would always be, "You want to go to work? Be in my driveway at 6:30 in the morning and I'll put you to work." Carmon was unwavering in his commitment to his family, along with his service to his church and community. He will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, the twinkle in his eye, and his seemingly unending pockets full of candy which he loved slipping to all the little kids at church.

Papa, you have earned a rest. Know that you are deeply loved. We are so very proud of you. Job well done.
