Carol La June Thompsen Nielsen passed away on December 22, 2022 in Draper, Utah at the age of 96 surrounded by family. She is survived by daughters Ginny (Dean) Jarvis, Susan Steadman, sister Virginia Thompsen, and daughter in law Victoria and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol, the daughter of Charles and Adelaide Thompsen was born on June 6, 1926 in Spring City, Utah. Fourth of six children she loved growing up in the small central Utah town. She married Jeddie Lynn Nielsen on January 2, 1948 and raised 3 children together in Kearns.
Carol worked various jobs in her life. She was a lifeguard in Spring City, worked at ZCMI in Salt Lake City, a telephone operator in Bingham, UT and a retail store clerk at K-Mart in Kearns. She provided service as a “Rosie the Riveter” while living in California and was a pin-up girl, sending her picture to soldiers in the war.
Carol had many talents. She loved painting and would use almost anything as her canvas. She painted rocks, old saws, frying pans, and vases. She was a wonderful baker, was on many bowling leagues, loved playing cards and enjoyed hiking in the mountains and deserts for artifacts.
She was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Richard, Spencer, Warren, and Fergus. Husband Jeddie, son Jerry, son-in-law Drue and granddaughter Jeri.
We loved you mom for your strength and support through tough times and the good. We are glad you are now with beloved family members and be in their care until we see you again.
A graveside service will be held for Carol on Saturday December 31, 2022. The service will happen at 12 PM at the cemetery located at 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, UT.Service Information
