Carolyn Player

Carolyn Brewer Player, 73, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2026, leaving a family who adored her and a lifetime of love stitched into everything she did.

Born on August 19, 1953, in Salt Lake City to Roy and Chris Brewer, Carolyn was a proud member of the first graduating class of Cottonwood High School in 1971.

Carolyn could make anything with a needle and thread. As a young woman, she sewed much of her own clothing and even made her wedding dress, a reflection of both her skill and her creativity. That gift carried into her family life, as she created many dresses and outfits for her daughters when they were young. In the 1980s, she also worked as a seamstress for Rykel Sports. Most recently, she designed and sewed her youngest daughter’s wedding dress, a true labor of love that she considered one of her greatest honors.

Carolyn began her 35-year career with Delta Air Lines in 1991, first working in Reservations, and in 2000, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a flight attendant. She was based in Los Angeles for her first two years before transferring home to Salt Lake City. She continued flying with Delta to the very end. During her years as a flight attendant, Carolyn was a fierce advocate for the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), working tirelessly to help Delta flight attendants secure union representation, a goal she never stopped believing in. Her courage on behalf of others reflected the same steadfast resolve she brought to every part of her life.

Carolyn was an avid bowler who participated in multiple leagues and many bowling events, bringing energy and commitment to a pastime that meant a great deal to her. On the morning of her passing, she competed one final time, winning gold in the scratch division for her age group at the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah.

She was passionate about the people, traditions, and causes she cherished, and her enthusiasm for them was impossible to forget. She was known for her love of Diet Coke—leaded during the day and unleaded at night—a detail that will always bring a smile to those who knew her best. She was also a wonderful cook whose food was enjoyed by all who gathered at her table, and her Thanksgiving dinner was the highlight of her family’s year.

Above all, Carolyn was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will be missed more than words can say. Her warmth shone through in the meals she prepared, the clothes she sewed, and the devotion she showed to family and friends. She loved fiercely, gave freely, and made the people around her feel truly cared for. Her memory lives on through the family she treasured, the work of her hands, and the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jeff, and their daughters, Robyn, Briana, and Jocelyn (Paul). She is also survived by her grandsons, Kyle and Preston Denos; her younger brother, Kelly Brewer (Diane); and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Brewer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Chris Brewer, and her older brother, Kevin Brewer.
