Chad Richardson Galloway, 73, passed away on July 14, 2025 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah after a long and courageous battle with complications from diabetes as well as other health issues. He was born March 22, 1952, in Salt City, Utah to Frederick Wayne Galloway and Betty Elaine Richardson Galloway. He was married to Donna Rae Smith in Elko, Nevada on April 6, 1974 which was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.
He was a lifelong member of the LDS church and was proceeded in death by his wife Donna, his parents Frederick and Betty and his brother Wesley.
In life Chad was a man of quiet strength, steadfast kindness, and a heart as generous as they come, he left this world the way he lived in it—humble, loving, and surrounded by those who mattered most.
Chad was the kind of person you wanted in your corner when life got hard. Level-headed and calm in the face of chaos, he had an unshakable presence that steadied those around him. He never sought recognition, but quietly listened—really listened—to the people in his life. More than once, someone would mention needing something in passing, only to find it show up anonymously, like a small miracle. That was Chad—always giving, always watching out for others, and never asking for anything in return.
Though not one to wear his emotions on his sleeve, he had a quirky sense of humor that would catch you off guard. He didn’t laugh easily or often, so when he did, you knew you’d truly struck gold. Getting a chuckle from Chad felt like winning a prize—and his laugh, rare as it was, was deeply cherished by those who knew him best.
Above all, Chad was a devoted father and grandfather. He poured himself into teaching his children and grandchildren the values that defined him: compassion, thoughtfulness, and the joy of giving. His love for his family was fierce and constant. Nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by those he loved.
Chad's legacy lives on in the lives he touched—often in ways he never took credit for. He taught us that real strength is quiet, that love is shown more in actions than in words, and that kindness can be a quiet force that changes the world one small gesture at a time.
He is survived by his loving family, who will carry forward the lessons, laughter, and warmth he gave so freely. They will miss him deeply, but are grateful for every moment they had with him. Survived by children Alana (Brock) Angelina (Lance), and Adam; grandchildren Alexis ( Dominic), Bryson, Makenzie, Victoria, and Clinton John; great grandchildren Sylas and Axl, and sisters Michelle (Robert), Jan (Layne), Joy (Keltie), and Jolene. Before his death he stated he did not want a traditional funeral as he wanted his life to be celebrated. There will be an Irish Wake Monday July 21 6-8pm, (please come with “Chad” stories); there will be a viewing July 22, 2025 10am-12pm followed by a short burial service. All services will be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery 3115 East 7800 South Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
In lieu of a funeral, family has rented out a theater at Jordan Commons, 9335 S State Street Sandy, UT 84070, at 6:00 pm on July 22, 2025 so family and friends can watch Superman, a movie Chad had been looking forward to seeing with his son Adam. We would invite all those attending to wear their favorite Superhero shirts as a way to remember Chad’s love for Marvel and DC. The family would like to thank all friends and family for all the support they have shown us, as well as the staff and residents at Valencia of Draper for the care they have given Chad over the past few years.
