With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend, Chance Mikovich Suwai, who passed away on May 27, 2026, at the age of 30.
Born and raised in Utah before later making Maryland home, Chance brought humor, stubborn determination, loyalty, and love into the lives of those around him. He was the kind of person who could make people laugh, speak his mind, and leave a lasting impression wherever he went. To know Chance was to know someone who fought hard, loved deeply, and carried a spirit that remained unmistakably his, even through life’s hardest moments.
Chance will be remembered not only for the immense courage he showed during his battle with leukemia, but for the life he lived outside of it, his personality, his friendships, the memories he created, and the love he gave to his family and those closest to him. Though his journey through illness was long and difficult, he faced more than most ever should have to with resilience and strength.
He leaves behind a family who loved him profoundly: his parents, David and Laga Mikovich; his siblings, Journey Toala and Dawson Mikovich; his grandparents, Mitieli and Judy Suwai and Donna Mikovich; extended family members, along with countless friends, and loved ones who will forever carry his memory forward.
Though our hearts are shattered, Chance’s story does not end here. He leaves behind memories, laughter, love, and a space that can never truly be filled. We will carry him with us always.
You may visit with the family at a viewing on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:45 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at the same address.
