Charleen H O’Brien

Charleen H O’Brien, age 91, returned home to our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ on August 9, 2025.

She was born in Salt Lake City on November 3, 1933 to Charles and Lanora Hyde. She was the youngest of six children. Her sisters were her best friends throughout her life. She often spoke fondly of spending time with extended family in her early years.

Charleen met her sweetheart, Don, in high school and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder Harold B Lee on June 23, 1954. They were blessed with five sons that she loved more than anything. She was a very devoted wife and mother. She sacrificed all her time and energy in caring for them.

As her boys became old enough to serve missions, Charleen went to work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints until she retired 20 years later.

Charleen loved to read, watch game shows and enjoyed her sweets – especially chocolate.

She is survived by her son Steven (Bonnie), grandson Jared (Jessica), granddaughter Tristina (David) and five great grandchildren Bronson, Gauge, Cade, Brooklyn and Jase.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Donald O’Brien, sons Mark, Ronald (Jennifer), Scott and James. Parents Charles Stanford Hyde & Lanora Zurviah Sperry.

A special thank you to her nurse Leti and staff at Sunridge Assisted Living and Independence Hospice for taking such good care of Charleen.

A viewing will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 10:00 – 11:00 am at Lakeview Memorial, Bountiful, Utah. Interment to follow.
