Charles LaVern Soelberg passed away peacefully on January 1, 2012. Charlie was born November 26, 1921 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Charles Edwin Soelberg and Katheryn Junge.
He was a Captain in the United States Army and served in World War II. After a whirlwind courtship Charlie married his sweetheart, Dorothy Gene Beckstrand, in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1947.
He was a Certified Life Underwriter and worked in the insurance field throughout his working career. Charlie served faithfully in many auxiliaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including the Bishopric and High Council. He also served three full-time missions: Northern States, Salt Lake Family History, and Independence Missouri.
Charlie loved to tinker in his workshop, watch airplanes, ski, tell jokes and laugh.
He will be greatly missed by his three children: Kathryn (Joseph) Weeks, Craig (Corinne) Soelberg, and Cindy (James) Garrett as well as by his 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy and his brothers Kenneth Soelberg and Robert Soelberg.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fortuna Ward Chapel, 4407 S. Fortuna Way (3610 East). A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.holbrookmortuary.com
