Charles F. "Chuck" Stonebrook

Charles Franklin “Chuck” Stonebrook died on October 27, 2023, with his family by his side. He had battled cancer and dementia for several years. Chuck was born on September 21, 1940, in Mansfield, Ohio to John Kenneth Stonebrook and Elizabeth Jeanette Sleeman.  He married Anna Jo Taylor, later divorced. He then married Martha Gay Smith on October 2, 1979, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. Chuck and Martha recently celebrated the 44^th anniversary of their happy marriage.

After graduating from Mansfield High School, Chuck attended Ohio State University, home of the Buckeyes. He began his working career in Ohio where he worked in accounting and finance. His work for Capital Financial brought him to Utah, where he opened a branch office in Ogden, Utah in the mid 1960’s. He worked in the finance and furniture industries throughout his career. Chuck finished his career at age 75 when he retired as an accountant for the Salt Lake City Police Department, a job he really loved.

Chuck loved his family and took great joy spending time with them. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he loved the Lord and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Throughout his life, Chuck was very athletic.  He enjoyed snow skiing, boating and water skiing and golf. Chuck also loved watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes play football. Chuck was one of the most positive people on the planet. He rarely ever complained, choosing instead to look on the bright side of things regardless of the circumstances. 

Chuck is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Ken, daughter-in-law, Josilyn, and his two precious grandsons, Brody and Ezra. He is also survived by his sister, Sara Stonebrook Tucker of Mansfield, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents, brother George Stonebrook, sister Margaret Stonebrook Jones, and son Jeffrey Michael Stonebrook.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery, located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, where friends may call on Thursday, November 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on November 10, one hour prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be at Memorial Redwood, 6500 South Redwood Road immediately following the funeral service.
