Charlotte Mae Barker

Charlotte Mae Barker passed away peacefully on June 29, 2023. Born December 7, 1934 in Great Barrington, MA, she was the youngest of 14 children (4 half siblings, 9 whole siblings). Graduated from Searles High School (Methuen, MA) in 1952. Attended a 3-year nursing school program in Pittsfield, MA and worked as a registered nurse for 45 years in a variety of positions ranging from Obstetrics to ICU/Critical Care to Post Operative Recovery. Charlotte retired from nursing in 2000.
Charlotte spent much of her personal time doing community volunteer work, especially during retirement. A couple of notable projects: knitting many winter hats that were donated to homeless shelters, & teaching ESL at the Guadalupe School. She was very proud of a governor’s award she was given for her community service work.
Charlotte was an enthusiastic Utah Jazz fan. Charlotte was also devoted to her church. Additionally, Charlotte greatly enjoyed her friends, travel, reading, music, classic films, water aerobics, and supporting her grandchildren in their activities. While her health allowed it, she made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s events be they music performances, sports games, or school events.
Charlotte is survived by two children, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many extended family members. Preceded in death by her parents, 13 siblings, husband, and infant son, as well as many other extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Oak Hills LDS Ward (455 S 1200 E in Bountiful). The viewing will be held from 10:30 – 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. For those who would like to watch from home, the funeral will be live-streamed. The link should be on this site as the time for the funeral arrives.
