Cherie Ann King

February 1, 1937 — January 26, 2026

Cherie Ann (Symes) King, age 88, died on January 26, 2026, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born on February 1, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ila Fay and Kenneth Symes. She married the boy next door and the love of her life, Dennis Walter King, on February 19, 1955.

She was a creator. Her focus in her life was creating a beautiful and comfortable home for her family. She loved her family and always wanted to spend time with them and make her home a cozy place for all her family to enjoy. She loved to spend time with her mother shopping and China painting and loved spending time with her daughters and son.

She loved the outdoors and when you went anywhere with her, she could tell you about every tree, flower, bird, and animal that you would find in nature. She knew all the names of the trees, all the names of the flowers, all the birds and animals. She loved to be outdoors but especially loved being with her husband, Dennis. She loved spending time at their Cabin with him and her family and friends. That was one of their joys in life was building their cabin together and making it a fun place for her family and friends to enjoy.

She especially loved her grandchildren; they all brought her so much joy. She loved hanging out with them at Disneyland and going to parades with them and taking them to their cabin.

Cherie and Dennis served a 6-month mission in Nauvoo, Illinois and served at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. They made several lifetime friends serving those missions and enjoyed going to lunch and trips to Tuacahn with them.

She is survived by her daughters, Pyper Stivers (Terry); KimberLee Allred (Deano); Tracie Lemmon; her son Michael King (Shannon); her 12 grandchildren, Abigail Studer (Jon); Collin Stivers (Lauren); EmaLee Dan (Brian); Jared Erekson (Rachael); Elizabeth Oliveras (Adam); Courtney Lemmon; Cory Stivers (Kristine); Katie Lemmon; Taylor King (Taylor Chisum); Sydney King; Raygan Bitner (Tyler); and Kendyl King; as well as her 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Glade Symes (Cathy) and Lynn Symes (Sharon); her sisters-in-law Gwen Symes (Herb) and Jan King (David); and her brother-in-law Stephen King (Mike). She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Walter King; her mother Ila Fay (Larsen) Symes; her father Kenneth Edward Symes; her brother Herb Symes; her sister-in-law Sharon Symes; and her brothers-in-law David King and Mike Wasiloff.
